To Whom It May Concern:
As a member of our workplace health benefit plan, I would like to offer a suggestion to improve our health benefits package.
I find that Reiki is effective in maintaining good health, and I am very pleased with the results of my treatments. Unfortunately, it is currently not reimbursable in our health benefit plan.
My reiki practitioner is registered with the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC), a professional member association with high standards for its various holistic health practitioners. I have every confidence that NHPC reiki practitioners are skilled, professional, and essential to my health care.
As part of their high professional standards, the NHPC evaluates applicant qualifications to ensure they meet the Association's education and training standards.
The Association also establishes and promotes an industry-compliant scope of practice, standards of practice, and record-keeping best practices for reiki practitioner members.
Members are further required to maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills to support continued safe and effective practice using a robust Continued Competency Program.
Through a stringent Code of Ethics and a thorough Complaints Resolution Process, the NHPC creates and maintains accountability of all members.
I believe I should have the benefit of being able to claim reiki sessions provided by NHPC reiki practitioners through my health benefit plan.
I request that our workplace health benefit plan create a Reiki category that will allow for the reimbursement of reiki sessions and a policy that states NHPC reiki practitioners are eligible providers for such category.
